AN INTERNET PHENOMENON: WE HEART IT

We heart It is an imaged-based social network for inspiring images. Users can collect (or "heart") their favourite images to share with friends and organize into collections. It was founded in 2008 by a Brazilian man, Fabio Giolito. It originally started as a tool for himself and his friends, but then it grew exponentially from there. We Heart It is a visual platform that supports images, animated GIFs and videos. It is known for its positive community since there are no features for commenting, users feel more comfortable posting content. We Heart It has 25 million monthly users and the majority of the users are 24 years old, and more than 70%. I personally like it a lot because it's very well made and you can find all the images you want.

ANIMAL HERO: MILA THE BELUGA WHALE

This story is about a beluga whale, Mila, that saved a 26-year-old diver, who was taking part in a free diving contest without breathing equipment. She was in a tank of water among the whales and when she tried to return to the surface, she found her legs crippled by cramps because of the Arctic temperatures. The diver thought it was over, until Mila took her legs in her mouth and started pushing her to the top of the pool. Officials said she's a sensitive animal who works closely with humans and the diver owes Mila her l
ife.

GREEK LEGEND: THE BIRTH OF ATHENA

Zeus, the ruler of all the Olympians, came to lust after Metis, daughter of the titans Ocean and Tetis. Metis tried to escape, going so far as to change her form many times; she changed into various creatures such as hawks, fish, and serpents. However, Zeus was both determined and equally proficient at changing form. He continued his pursuit until she relented.
An oracle of Gaea then prophesied that Metis' first child would be a girl and that her second child would be a boy that would overthrow Zeus, similarly to what had happened to his father and grandfather. Zeus took this warning to heart. When he next saw Metis, he initially flattered her and put her at her ease. Then, with Metis' guards down, Zeus opened his mouth and swallowed her and her unborn child. This was the end of Metis, but also the beginning of Zeus' wisdom.
After a time, Zeus developed an unbelieveable headache, which made him scream out of pain so loudly it could be heard throughout the earth. The other gods came to see what the problem was. Hermes realized what needed to be done and directed Hephaestus to take a wedge and split open Zeus's skull. Out of the skull sprang Athena, fully grown and in a full set of armour. Due to the way of her birth, she became the goddess of intelligence and wisdom.

ARTICLE: I WANT TO LIVE FOREVER

This article is about the possibilities of being immortal in the future thanks to science. Darwin's theories showed that is integral to evolution, but maybe we can defeat the aging  process in the laboratory, so our cells can live longer than the body, how the scientist  Tom Kirkwood suggested in 1977.
Another idea tells us to freeze our bodies or our head. Walt Disney chose this method, but it was very expensive, and to resuscitate them, science must advance.
There are two methods to be immortal. The first one is to stop the biological aging reparing or replacing our cells when they age. The second method is to save the mind, using nano-robots scanning our bodies onto computers, living a perfect virtual life. Is this a good idea? We don't know yet. From my hand, I don't really think it is a good idea to go against nature, that tells us that we have got just one life to live, but I don't neither deny that it could be a very incredible thing, even if it is a bit creepy. I am sure that if all this will be possible in the future, it will be very expensive or reserved to "important" people.

MY LIFE

MY HISTORY
My name is Roberta Gravano. I was born on January the 14th 2002, in Gaeta, Italy. My parents are both italian, and we have always lived in Campania, in a little city called Mondragone. My mother is a cook and my father is an entrepreneur, and they work together. In fact, they manage a take-away food shop called "Sapore". My mum cooks very well!!

SCHOOL
When I was five, I frequented the primary school "Gianni Rodari" in Mondragone. Then, I went to the secondary school "Michelangelo Buonarroti". Last year, on September, I started the linguistic lyceum "Galileo Galilei" in my city. I really like this school address because I love languages and foreign culture. I go to school from Monday to Friday, a quarter past eight to a quarter past one. We don't wear a uniform and we have a ten minutes break, and sometimes we have a lot of homework. My favourites subjects are Spanish, Italian, History and, of course, English! But I don't really like maths...

INTERESTS
I love reading: especially classics and fantasy sagas. I read a lot of sagas like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Hunger Games... I like listening to music, and I usually listen to rock music. In my free time I also spend some time with my friends, like Arianna (my best friend), Michela and Carmela. We often do homework together or go to the cinema. I love cinema, and I enjoy watching old movies, like Charlie Chaplin's movies, but my favourite is "L'attimo fuggente". I follow some tv series too, and my favourite one is "Doctor Who". I don't really like sports... because I'm a bit lazy!

HOME LIFE
Home life is pretty normal. My mum and my dad both work so I sometimes help in the house. During the week they work until five and when they come back home, if i have finished my homework, we normally watch a movie together on TV and stuff like that. I also go to the gym three times a week. On Saturday morning I wake up very late and I have lunch at my aunt's home. In the afternoon I hang out with my friends. On Sunday morning I spend some time with my friends again until half past one, and when I return home I usually have lunch with all my family at home, and in the evening I go out with mum and dad.

WEIRD SPORTS: BED RACING

The sport of Bed Racing has been embraced by the people of the North Yorkshire Town of Knaresborough. The first race in 1965 was only open to Army, Navy and American Marines, but now the competition is open to anyone. The competitors race in teams of five, plus one on the bed. Each team must provide their own bed, decorated in the theme for the year. The bed runs on four wheels, but also need to be able to float. The 3km run race begins and ends at Conyngham Hall. About halfway through the run, the teams race the one-in-five gradient climb to Castle Top before it's back down the hill and toward the final challenge - crossing a river.
